Managing Employees – Black & White or fifty shades of grey?

It never ceases to amaze me how unpredictable people can be! Most of the time we go about our daily lives doing our jobs to the best of our abilities, going home and being with our families  and then Wham! Something happens to knock us off balance. This something can be an event at work, an organisational change, a new system, a new manager, new colleagues or it could be something affecting our personal lives but we are thrown off balance so much that it really affects our abilities to function rationally and we go into survival mode. Take Chris he had been with the organisation for 17 + years and reported to have a positive working relationship with all of his colleagues except one, Susan.  He worked at the same level of Susan but felt she was so driven and so focused on achieving her targets that he felt she did this at any cost. It reached such fever pitch that the two...

Jungle Jubilation at Jubilee Pageant

The Jungle team were jubilant at the recent Jubilee Pageant  which took place on 12 July at RAF Cosford.   It was such a privilege to join a number of other businesses who were also  showcasing their services.    Over 35,000 attended the event and even the Town Crier came to visit the Jungle! The sun shone down on us, our pitch was perfect,  and we had lots of visitors to our stand.  Jungle even took part in a live radio interview on the BBC Radio Shropshire's Jim Hawkins Show! We had a front row view of HRM The Queen and Prince Phillip after they arrived by helicopter at RAF Cosford . HRM The Queen and Prince Philip sat directly opposite our stand as they watched the Rainbow Pageant  which comprised of over 6,000 school children together with local businesses. A truly unique opportunity which Jungler were proud to be part of.  A once in a lifetime Jubilee event!  ...

Two enormous doses of inspiration & motivation!

Jungle was privileged to attend two events recently where they heard from not one but two athletes and received a double dose of inspiration and motivation! Ben Hunt-Davis MBE (pictured here with Entreprenuer Nigel Botterill) shared his inspirational story of how he and his fellow GB colleagues won the 8 man boat race in the 2000 Olympics, something that had not been achieved since 1912! What struck a chord were how these 8 completely different people from different backgrounds with different motivations and different skills came together to beat the best rowers in the world.     This brought me back to the business world where Jungle often finds themselves helping Executive Board members with their strategic direction.  More often than not at the start of our assignment it’s evident that these Board members have different underlying agendas, in some cases don’t like each other (!), and often don’t speak the same language;  in truth it is often for these reasons that many organisations...
